How will I nourish myself today?

Hi, I'm Marla and this is my nourishing blog where I celebrate my love for organic plant-based food and passion for eating food that makes me feel good all around. Follow me on my culinary journey where I will be eating my way to places that bring a deep sense of nourishment. All of the recipes I have chosen are from beautifully artistic and talented bloggers. Most recipes are free of gluten, soy, processed foods, sugars, and presented in a way that says, “eat me, I’m alive!”.  For each recipe I offer my personal insights into the food-mood connection and other interesting nutritional and metaphysical tidbits that are “food for thought”. Feel free to read my story below. Not sure what to make first? Check out my faves. Hope you enjoy the journey!

My Story:

In my twenties I developed IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and experienced anxiety that I couldn’t even recognize or name then. I was in pain often on many levels. My journey to feeling less pain, was a slow one- Ten years!- My treatment began with the conventional medical community. This experience made me feel like I was not understood and perhaps felt even more dis-connected from the “norm”. I was referred to a Psychiatrist who wanted to prescribe anti-depressants. This was not the route I wanted to go because I knew there had to be another way. So I decided to try alternative therapies. The first one I tried was Homeopathy, followed closely by diet and nutrition. After taking my first homeopathic remedy, I remember saying to myself, is this little pill really reducing my IBS cramping and vomiting symptoms? It was like a power drug- Well, I was hooked. The next remedy was called a “constitutional remedy” which helped to clear out other dis-pleasurable symptoms and awakened an awareness of my underlying issues and energy. These experiences were so powerful that I decided to be trained in these professions so I could help myself further and others who were living with similar conditions.

Fast forward many years later, now, as a Holistic Nutritionist, trained Homeopath and Masters in Nutrition, I am fulfilling my passion to help others with many conditions and deepening my own self-healing. The amazing part of being a holistic practitioner is that I see most sensations of pain as a symptom of a larger stuck energy. I love the opportunity to offer my compassion, knowledge and wisdom and help people move through life with more awareness, which in many cases means a big load has been released and they can feel more ease with life. With time and experience, I’m deepening my understanding of the many ways in which healing may present itself.-
