Don’t let the school year be the reason your kid’s health gets side tracked

Our kids’ health drops dramatically as a child's age and grade in school increase. Physical activity should be a regular part of their life, but how can you help them achieve a healthy lifestyle? Let’s talk about it.

  1. image-twoParticipate in after school activities - The key is finding activities they enjoy doing. There are many options from organized sports to biking, skating, or swimming.
  2. Eat right - Make sure to prepare a well-balanced diet for your kids. Select foods with these nutrients: calcium, magnesium, potassium, and fiber. Involve your child in picking and preparing the food. Teach them to make healthy choices by giving them a chance to choose healthy foods!
  3. Get enough sleep - Studies have shown that kids who regularly get an adequate amount of sleep have improved attention, behaviour, learning, memory, and overall mental and physical health. Try to get your child at least 8 hours of sleep per night.
