Remain motivated during the dark cold months

Unlike spring which inspires new beginnings, winter is a time when many of us start to slow down and make excuses instead of moving or pushing through the cold and dark weather. Follow these tips to help keep you motivated with the winter months approaching.

  1. imagetwoCreate a plan: If you create your own plan or set your own goal, you’re more likely to follow through. Having something to work towards means you’ll be more likely to stick to it over the coming days.
  2. Sleep: Getting enough sleep each night helps refresh your mind and body. This alone improves motivation and morale.
  3. Eat properly: Make sure you continue to consume a well-balanced diet including whole grains, lean meats, fish, poultry, legumes, nuts and seeds. If possible, avoid too much sugar to make sure your energy levels stay at the top.
  4. Get a support / accountability person: It can be your partner, friend, or workmate. It is less likely you will back out on your plans if you have someone watching your back and motivating you.
