WHY are EMOTIONS so important in our life?

Emotions are a vital part of our everyday lives. They allow us to feel alive, to interact with the world and the people around us, and to make decisions. Emotions can be positive or negative, but either way, they influence the way we view ourselves and the world. Some people might believe that emotions are a liability, but in reality, they are an essential component of human life.

This blog post aims to provide you with four compelling reasons why emotions are critical in our life.

  1. image-twoThey convey information - Emotions provide valuable information that help us navigate the world. They help us to determine things like whether or not we feel safe, whether or not we are attracted to someone, or whether or not we're having a good time. Our emotions also influence the way we interact with people, and the information they convey can help us adjust our behaviour accordingly.
  1. They help us make decisions - Emotions can provide us with valuable information to make decisions. They help us to define our values and beliefs, and can influence our judgment. For instance, when we feel guilty or ashamed of our actions, it indicates that we may have violated our values or beliefs. By understanding our emotions, we can decide how to respond in a situation and make choices that align with our values.
  1. They connect us to others - Emotions create social connections between people. By sharing our feelings with others, we build empathy and understanding, leading to deeper relationships. Sharing emotions is particularly important during difficult times, such as experiencing grief or loss. Research also shows that emotional connectedness with others is critical, especially for people who experience mental health problems.
  1. They help us cope with stress - Emotions are powerful coping tools that help us deal with stressful situations. For instance, when we're stressed, expressing our feelings of anger, sadness or anxiety can help reduce our stress levels. Accepting and managing emotions can also lead to resilience in difficult times, and can even help to improve our mental and physical health.
